Connecting To The Month Of Self-Expression

Greetings!

The weather is slowly getting warmer and the sun is starting to shine more. I have a lilac tree outside my front window and I can see the buds forming. Usually June is the time for the beautiful, fragrant lilacs to bloom.
Change is definitely in the air and our healing begins when we can discern between our ego masquerading as the self and hiding our true essence. The way to tell the difference is if you find yourself analyzing and judging the actions of others harshly, justifying your position on things, or feeling frustrated when life does not always happen according to your desires and demands. You need to take a step back from yourself in order to see things more clearly because you are missing the spiritual opportunities present in your life challenges. Just as the trees are starting to bud it is a time for you to open up to what supports your wellbeing, what is true, nourshing and real. Let go of what no longer is nourishing you, review your lifestyle, identify areas you would like to expand, let go of behaviours and choices that are no longer serving you and holding you back from growing into your potential. Make a plan to begin new life affirming behaviours and activities that lead you in the direction you want to go and reduce or eliminate the destructive, negative ones.

Is stating your vegan elitist?

I was out for dinner the other night and I mentioned that I was vegan. The next day during a conversation, it came up that stating that your vegan, comes off sounding elitist.  Am I caught up in my ego?  Or am I just proud that I have chosen a healthier lifestyle?

I am in fact, letting people know that I am not sharing the same mainstream path with them at this time because I have chosen to be compassionate to all creatures and to my body.

If being vegan is the ideal way to eat for your health, but every now and then you consume something with egg or cheese because of circumstance or a choice made at that moment, does that mean you are not a true vegan? Have you crossed over to the vegetarian line?

No Excuses

What's your excuse?

We all have excuses. Let's face it, it is human nature. We are a very busy species and it is extremely difficult to manage to do all the things we would like to do and accomplish in one day.

There is a way to accomplish the most important things first, by making sure to take care of yourself, so you are healthy and feeling energized and motivated! We must learn to prioritize.

Let's talk about exercise. The most common excuse that I hear as a personal trainer, is there is no time. My answer is always the same. When a client tells me that he or she has no time, I always say, "No one does, we must make the time."

Here is a personal example. I decided the other morning when I opened my facility at 5:30 am,  that instead of opening my computer and getting caught up in emails, that I would take just 15 minutes and work out. I know how much better I feel, when I get the heart pumping and sweat!
